The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory — Irving, TX

September 25, 2024

I always love being at the Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory and arriving at the venue for the Goth Babe show was no exception. I was buzzing with excitement. I have seen Goth Babe before when he was at Austin City Limits in 2022. He was one of many “openers” for the main stage that my friends and I had camped out at. I remember his set very well and really enjoyed it, so when I found out that he was coming to Dallas, I knew I had to be there. Goth Babe took us on a ride full of fun, adventure and sensarity. I loved seeing the montages of nature and adventures that he had gone on. I felt a sense of nostalgia looking at the videos flying by; memories that were cherished enough to be shared with the audience. Much to my surprise, a bear cutout made an appearance and eventually made its way into the crowd where it crowd surfed, very unexpected but very fun, something I had definitely never seen before. Something else I have never experienced, but I very much loved, was Goth Babe serenading us while Mario Kart 8 played on the screens behind, controlled by two audience members; the teams, the right and left side of the venue. Goth Babe really encouraged the crowd to relax and dance and be in the moment with him while he danced and moved the entire performance, (which as a photographer I love). Another thing that I found myself noticing is the lights; something that I have become more keen to as I attend more shows, the varying colors and combinations added to the visual experience that everyone can be part of. For his encore, the different flashing lights were rainbow; adding to the list of things I have never seen before at a show. Goth Babe gave me a lot of visual firsts and I am not complaining. As the night went on, the audience got their own song and I looked around at the crowd to see everyone's groups, close and dancing. I felt the love in the room, the ability to bring people together in this way is magical, the lights swept over us, and I found myself smiling as I refocused on the ending. For the encore, we were graced with a full '80s mullet and a muscle shirt, and not the tank top, I mean the one that looked like he was shirtless with abs. And I did laugh. The rest of the band came out in other southern attire, complete with a cowboy hat. But the party didn’t stop there, after the final song, a dance party ensued with a remix of “My Girl” by the Temptations. I couldn’t bring myself to leave, I wanted to absorb every possible second of the Goth Babe 2024 Tour. While leaving the venue, moving through the crowd of people my ears were filled with “That was so much fun!” and “I love him so much.” This is probably my favorite part of any show, swimming through the sea of people in search of my car as they say a little too loudly (ears are still adjusting) about how much they loved the show and the artist. Goth Babe left an impact on his fans and myself, a show I will never forget.
