Suki Waterhouse — Sparklemuffin Tour

Suki Waterhouse transported me into her sparklemuffin habitat and I never wanted to leave. Her stage was absolutely covered in flora and greenery complete with physical trees lining the background with a big glittering spider web in the middle. I appreciate that while fake trees were actually there, it would’ve been easy for them to be just a backdrop. Her stage was very immersive which I really appreciated. There was even a disco ball dawned in leafy vines that would cover the audience in glittering light. Suki Waterhouse came out in a full length glitter pink spider web coat complete with feathers lining the sleeves and the bottom.  If I have said it once I have said it a thousand times, I love, love, love when artists move around the stage, when they perform. It makes the show ten times more fun and exciting and interactive. Suki Waterhouse checked all my photographer boxes. She was so energetic and acknowledged the crowd pointing her mic to let them take over. She even brought a fan on stage, “There are so many beautiful girls in the crowd but one in particular caught my eye. . .” After the first two songs she slips out of the coat wearing a silver bedazzled bodysuit with long sleeves and shorts and knee high boots.  I always enjoy an outfit that glitters and sparkles. This also is able to add visual interest as the light catches each individual rhinestone. She complimented the crowd telling us we were beautiful and how she was so excited to be out on stage. Saying this is the biggest crowd she’s ever headlined. This was interesting to me and I felt fortunate to be able to see her at this venue and I am excited to see how her audience grows and grows. The song “My Fun” was definitely a crowd favorite, I saw people jumping to their feet and singing to their best friends.  “My Mind,” a song from her first album, was our acoustic song of the night and this is when everyone put up their phone flashlights. I think this is such an underrated aspect of concerts, it happens at almost everyone I attend and I am never not mesmerized. Her bodysuit was glittering along with all the lights, a perfectly still moment. Suki Waterhouse poured her heart and soul into this performance, she sang and looked beautiful. Right before the encore she sang one of her most popular songs “Good Looking” and as the lights dim and she ran off stage the crowd started cheering and screaming like I have never heard before. Definitely one of the louder crowds I’ve heard during an encore intermission. For her encore she started at the piano for the first ever song she released “Brutally” she talked about how this song came out of such an emotional time for her, a time in her life that “. . .felt like such an ending.” Interesting how something so big in the moment can be so small in the grand scheme of things and I loved hearing about how she turned that moment into something so positive. As she finishes her last song. “Model, Actress, Whatever,” she gives one last thank you to the crowd, I could feel the gratitude radiating off of her. Big waves from her and the crowd seemingly in unison lifted their arms to wave back. She shined, literally and metaphorically, as she smiled and ran off stage. As the lights went up and I began the journey back to my car, I could feel how special this was not not just to them but to her as well. I felt honored to be able to share that space with them and her for the night.
