Meghan Trainor — The Timeless Tour
Meghan Trainor after 8 years of tour hiatus proves that she truly is Timeless. I became aware of Meghan Trainor when the rest of the world with the release of “All About That Bass” back in 2014 and I had just turned 11. I remember the success of the song and I truly cannot believe that it has been 10 years. So, the girl who attended that concert was not 21, she was 11. Trainor came out adorned in an all pink outfit that shimmered and shined in all of the different lights she had pointing her way. While the crowd was decked out in dark blues, silvers and chrome, to match the visuals of her latest album. Her set design was very orb oriented; they circled the stage and was the subject of a lot of her visuals on screen. Trainor took me on an emotional rollercoaster singing throwbacks such as the famous “All About That Bass,” “Lips are Moving, “Title,” and “No Excuses” and even “Better When I’m Dancing.” Also slower songs such as “Superwoman” and “Timeless.” I found myself looking around the crowd and seeing all of the mothers and daughters together and I teared up, especially during “Superwoman” and “Like I’m Gonna Lose You” I saw mothers and daughters hugging and swaying back and forth. It made me wish my mom was there with me. I always remember us listening to Meghan Trainor together. The Timeless Tour was full of love, Trainor shared a heartfelt message of being kind to one another before “Did You Forget How to Love?” And would talk about her husband and two sons throughout the tour. At the end of “Dear Future Husband” where the outro goes “. . . Future husband, better love me right” as the lights dim she added “And he does!” warranting screams from the crowd. Trainor’s husband also made an appearance on stage during “Doing It All For You” where they shared a dance. I just thought it was the sweetest thing. Trainor also had an extra stage that sat on top of the actual stage of the Pavilion. I think that this allowed her to have more visual interest during her performance and allowed her to move around more. I also really appreciated her crowd interaction the whole show. It was different from what I would usually see at shows. She would talk to specific people she would see, compliment their outfits or praise that they knew all the words. She would wave and thank us for coming, telling us she loved us. I really liked this aspect, to me it showed that she really was excited to be back on tour and taking it all in, how much fun it all is. It was one of her dancer’s birthday and she took a moment to give her a sash and the crowd sang happy birthday, once again spreading the love and showing how much she cares for her team. Trainor had three acts to her whole set and showed out with stunning vocals that gave me chills the entire night. I couldn’t stop thinking to myself how good she truly is. Before the lights dimmed before the encore she shouted “This is the part where I pretend to leave for the night but I’ll be right back!” I honestly like when performers will acknowledge the encore bit that has become so standard for concerts, I think it is silly and fun. While we waited for her to come back out, a montage of her, her husband and her children played. It was a video of them on set being close and having fun. When she walks back out she states “That’s where I’ve been for 8 years, aren’t they beautiful?” Myself as well as everyone else in the crowd can tell how much she loved those three people, she brought me to tears for the third time that night. Trainor sang three more songs for us before she left for the night, for real this time and on the drive home I just listened to the setlist again, desperate to relive it.
